Cinéma en Plein Air à la Villette or the open air cinema at the Park la Villette is a summer cinema festival in Paris. This is a month long event in which good films, chosen from a number of countries all over the world will be screened in an open air venue, which is in a picturesque park in Paris. It is the third largest park in Paris.

You can go to the park with a picnic and blankets and arm chairs to watch class films and classic films of all times projected on to a giant screen in the park. It feels great to watch a film in any relaxed position you want. You can sit on a chair, recline on an arm chair or lie down on a blanket while watching the movie.

It is truly relaxing during the summer nights. You can take a food with you to have it before the starting of the film. The festival provides its viewers a chance to watch the world class films free of charge. Films of different languages are shown with sub titles in French so that the locals can understand them. All the films that are screened in this open air film festival are the original versions. Both classics and contemporary films are included in the festival.

The Cinéma en Plein Air à la Villette is organized during July-August every year. This is the middle of summer and it is a great experience watching movies with your friends and family in the cool summer night. The 2015 event is planed between 22 July and 23 August.

The Parc de la Villette is of great historical importance. It was a slaughter house before it was converted to a park. It is designed and constructed by Bernard Tschumi , who has won an award for his design of this park. This park has many important concerns housed in its premises. There are museums, concert halls and theatres in this. Besides, the largest science museum in Europe is situated in this park. In short, you have a lot to see inside the park during the day time. In the night the films are screened.
